Sheila Ann Griffin of Spirit Lake, formerly of Carroll

Sheila Ann (Martens) Griffin, age 57, of Spirit Lake, IA, and formerly of Carroll, IA, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at her home in Spirit Lake.

     Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter as Celebrant.  Music for the Mass will be by Jane Heithoff and Kathleen Macke.  Lectors for the Mass will be Lexi Schlatter and Nick Schroeder.  Honorary gift bearers will be McKenzie Crutchfield, Dawn Rohrbeck, and Courtney Rupiper.  Casket bearers will be Jim Schroeder, Nick Schroeder, Colby Crutchfield, Mark Sundrup, Jim Griffin, and Kelly Griffin.  Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Arcadia.

     Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M.  The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 A.M. on Friday where visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. – 10:15 A.M. prior to the Mass.

    Those in attendance at Sheila’s services are asked to abide by Covid-19 guidelines and facemasks are required at the funeral home and at the church.

     Sheila was born on July 29, 1963 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of Lee and Karen (Sundrup) Martens.  Her family lived in Arcadia until she was 15 when they moved to Carroll.  Sheila graduated from Kuemper High School in 1981.  She attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg and then worked for Northwest Telephone in Havelock, IA.  She worked as the general manager of Arcadia Telephone and Monarch Technologies in Denison.  Sheila was married to Tom Griffin on December 26, 1992 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll.  Sheila and Tom had two sons: Spencer and Mason.  She enjoyed cooking, boating on Lake Okoboji, shopping, hosting family events, and caring for those she loved.

     Sheila is survived by her two sons Spencer and Mason Griffin of Curlew, IA; her mother Karen Martens of Carroll; two sisters: Cindy Schroeder (Jim) of Carroll and Kim Crutchfield of Story City; several nieces and nephews; and her very good friend and partner in life Tom Griffin.

     Sheila was preceded in death by her father Lee Martens; her brother Kevin Martens; her grandparents; a brother-in-law Chris Crutchfield; and Tom’s father Kermit Griffin.
