Glidden City Council Schedules Two Public Hearing For May Meetings On Budget Amendments And Proposed Annexation

The Glidden City Council has scheduled two public hearing for May for a proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 budget amendment and voluntary property annexation. City officials selected the May 10 council meeting to hold the hearing for the $170,860 budget amendment. According to Administrator, Brooke Peterson, the adjustment is a result of multiple unexpected expenses incurred over the last year.

She adds many of these unforeseen expenditures were offset by higher-than-anticipated revenues. The second public hearing is slated for the council’s May 24 meeting. Peterson describes the property that is being considered for annexation.

The area to be annexed is approximately four acres and is currently owned by two individuals, so the city will have to process it as separate applications. As it stands, the land is currently vacant, but Peterson says it will soon be the site of a new auto dealership lot.

Peterson adds it is not clear when construction at the location will get underway. Residents with questions or concerns about the budget amendment or annexation can present them in-person or submit them in writing in advance. Both meetings will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Glidden City Hall conference room.
