Animal Rescue Of Carroll Is Ready To Serve Up A Delicious Meal At Monday Fundraiser

A popular fundraiser for Animal Rescue of Carroll will be coming back this coming Monday, April 26. Volunteer, Karen Schouten (SHOUT-en) says if you don’t want to cook and you want to help the organization care for displaced animals while they search for a new home, you can do both at their drive thru dinner. They will be serving from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church, 801 E. 18th St., and it is available for a free-will donation.

The money raised, Schouten says, stays right here in Carroll.

She adds they get many different kinds of support from area residents, including those who are willing to foster as well as the recent donation of an incubator for some of the very small kittens that need warmth. Volunteers also help keep costs down at the center by donating time and assisting with chores–from feeding, which may mean giving a bottle to a newly born animal every two hours, to helping clean and interacting with the dogs and cats. Schouten says there are also necessary medical procedures needed for each and every animal that passes through Animal Rescue.

To do this for your own pet, according to Schouten, it would cost right around $300 for the spaying or neutering, necessary testing and shots. Sponsors have also helped out with the planning of Monday’s dinner fundraiser.

She says they all want to thank those who have made generous donations as well as the many dedicated volunteers who will be on hand by noon on Monday to begin meal preparations. And if you are looking for a bargain, Animal Rescue of Carroll is also hosting a garage sale at their center, 1721 E. 10th St., today (Friday) from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
