DMACC Celebration Of Literary Arts Goes Virtual With Poetry Readings Wednesday

After being cancelled due to the pandemic last year, this year’s Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Celebration of the Literary Arts has gone virtual. Two poets are scheduled to headline the Wednesday, March 3 event that will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Zoom. Traci Brimhall and Nomi Stone will each read excerpts from a selected work. Brimhall, the author of four poetry collections and a children’s book, was selected for the 2009 Crab Orchard Series in Poetry First Book Award and has appeared in The New Yorker, Poetry, New England Review, Ploughshares, Orion, The Believer, The Nation and The New Republic. She currently works as an associate professor and director of creative writing at Kansas State University. Stone, an associate professor at the University of Texas in Dallas, is not only a poet, but an anthropologist as well. She has two poetry collections and has had her works published in POETRY Magazine, American Poetry Review, The New Republic, The Best American Poetry, Tin House, New England Review and more. In 2018, her poem—War Poem—was turned into a film in Motion Poems Season 8, Dear Mr. President. To attend the free readings by Brimhall and Stone that are open to the general public, follow the link included below.
