Arcadia Man Accused Of Drug Trafficking Scheduled For Trial Near The End Of April

An Arcadia man charged in Carroll County District Court for alleged drug trafficking is scheduled to go to trial near the end of April. Court records show 34-year-old Matthew Allan McNelly filed his written not guilty plea Tuesday to one count of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, a class D felony. The charge stems from a traffic stop by the Carroll Police Department on Aug. 15, 2020 near the intersection of U.S. Highways 30 and 71. Authorities seized approximately 53 grams of marijuana from the back seat of the car during the stop. Lab results from the Division of Criminal Investigation returned positive for marijuana on Jan. 25. Jury proceedings are slated to begin on Tuesday, April 27 with a pretrial conference on April 8. If found guilty, McNelly faces a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
