Planning For Street Renovations And An Annexation Discussion On Monday’s Carroll City Council Agenda

A couple of professional agreements are the big-ticket items for Monday’s Carroll City Council meeting. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says they will be discussing design work for 2021 street renovation projects. He says this is a bit different than previous street repairs that were mainly overlays.

He provides details on the proposed replacement locations.

Pogge-Weaver adds they will also be looking at a sidewalk design on Timber Avenue from 111th Road to Hillcrest Drive with a connection into the Sauk Rail Trail. JEO Consulting Group has provided an estimate of $35,000 for those design and construction administration fees. A proposed timeline would have designs developed through April 30 with bid letting in June and work commencing yet this year. The second professional services agreement to be discussed Monday is for Graham Park creek improvements.

The council will also conduct a review of the city’s drug paraphernalia ordinance and discuss a request from Olsen’s Outdoor Power who would like to be annexed into the city limits to allow for connection to a nearby city sanitary sewer line. They are not contiguous, so Carroll County Solid Waste was contacted about annexation as well and has agreed. There is a Ferrellgas filling station, however, that would be impacted.

Ferrellgfas does not have a local office and the city has not yet received any communication back on queries about this annexation. The meeting will convene at 5:15 p.m. Monday at City Hall, but will be closed to the public. It can be viewed on local access cable CAAT 6, on the city’s YouTube channel or via Zoom. Details on how to join the meeting along with the agenda and packet of materials can be found below.
