Lake View City Council Nearing End Of FY22 Budget Preparations

The Lake View City Council is nearing the end of their Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 budget preparations and are scheduled to meet Monday evening for another budget work session. According to Administrator, Scott Peterson, city officials heard budget requests from the anticipated organizations and programs they generally fund at their meeting earlier this week.

With no more funding requests expected, Peterson says they are ready to put the finishing touches on the draft budget he has been preparing for the past several months. The council will meet with city staff and department heads for approximately two hours on Monday night to review the numbers. Peterson says he feels confident in the city’s current fiscal position.

Lake View’s required maximum property tax levy public hearing will take place during the council’s Feb. 15 meeting. Peterson is pleased to report it appears that the city’s total levy will be dropping in FY22.

This anticipated increase in Lake View’s general fund is due to a favorable increase in the city’s total property valuations. Individuals with questions or concerns about the proposed FY22 budget or the associated levies are encouraged to attend the Feb. 15 hearing. It is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Lake View Municipal Building. The deadline for city officials to submit finalized budget documents to the Iowa Department of Management is March 31.
