Iowa Workforce Development announced this week they will be reissuing new 1099-G tax forms to individuals who received unemployment benefits during 2020. An error was discovered after forms that had already been mailed may have omitted some benefits received by claimants. Unemployment insurance benefits are taxable and must be reported to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and to the Iowa Department of Revenue and Finance. Any 1099-G forms received prior to Jan. 25 should not be used to complete tax filings and destroyed. For more information, visit the Iowa Workforce Development website using the link included below.
