Audubon rallied in the 4th quarter from down 12 to win a low scoring affair that was controlled by the defense and the Wheeler defense came up big in the closing seconds. The Rockets had 3 looks at the rim in the final 30 seconds. The first looked good before coming back out. After a timeout the Rockets set up the play they wanted but Gavin Smith came flying out and blocked the shot with ended up back in the hands of Zach Schimmer with under 3 seconds left. Schimmer pulled up for a 16 foot jumper off the left side but it didn’t fall and Audubon grabbed their 2nd win of the season.

Joel Klocke hit a 3 from the top of the key to give the Wheelers their first lead they led 16-15 early in the 2nd quarter. The shot put them up 45-44 and turned out to be the game winner. Ar-We-Va had went up 40-28 on a 3 from Will Ragaller early in the 4th but they would only score 4 points the rest of the quarter. Audubon quickly answered the Ragaller shot with a 7-0 run to make it 5. Andres Cruz hit a tough shot to make it 7 again and appeared to stem the Wheeler rally but Audubon again cut it to 42-37 before hitting a 3 to make  it 42-40. Ethan Klocke then tied it at 42. The Wheelers missed the front end of a one and one twice in the final minute leaving the door open for the Rockets.

Ethan Klocke paced the Wheelers with 14 points while Joel Klocke added 8 points and Gavin Smith had 7 points and 7 rebounds to go with the big block late. Smith sat out the 3rd quarter but provided a spark in the 4th.

An interesting stat for the game. Audubon went 7-10 from the free throw line. Ar-We-Va was 6-10 from the free throw line.

Zach Schimmer led the Rockets with 15 points, Will Ragaller added 9 points, Andres Cruz had 9 points and Cooper Kock finished with 9 points and 8 rebounds.

The win improves Audubon to 2-7 as they head to Missouri Valley on Friday while Ar-We-Va falls to 6-5 and will travel to Paton Churdan on Tuesday.
