Carroll held off a 2nd half rally to improve to 4-5 overall and 2-5 in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers fell down early and trailed by 4 after the 1st quarter but they came out sharp in the 2nd quarter and raced ahead, leading by 7 at the break. Boone fought back in the 3rd quarter but Carroll received contributions from a number of girls and never gave up the lead. Gabi Hammer had a great game defensively and Hannah Jorgensen and Shay Sinnard played important roles off the bench.

Camryn Schable led the way with 12 points and Ella Collison finished with 11 points as Carroll had 3 players in double figures.

The Tigers host Carlisle on Friday.

For the 2nd time this season Kuemper hung tough with a ranked Monarch team but fell short on Tuesday as they slip to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference. The Knights got another great defensive effort to keep the game close in the 1st half. The defense continued to play well in the 2nd half but the offense went cold as Kuemper shot 2-12 from two point range and were 3-11 from beyond the arc. They were down 16 after the 3rd quarter.

Catherine Mayhall had a team high 13 points, Brooklyn Gifford added 10 points, Karly Baumhover 8 points and Akuet Malek finished with 11 rebounds and 7 block shots.

Kuemper is home again on Friday as they host Atlantic.

Both teams had runs in the game with Glidden Ralston having the last run helping them win their 3rd straight game. The loss snapped the Crusaders 3 game win streak. Coon Rapids Bayard took an early 6-3 lead on a 3 from Mia Leighty but Glidden Ralston answered as Morgan Koehler knocked down three 3’s. The Wildcats grabbed the lead at 8-6 and used a 14-0 run to go ahead 17-6. Coon Rapids Bayard responded as Brynn Bass hit back to back 3’s making it 19-15. That was part of a 14-2 run that put Crusaders ahead 23-21. Glidden Ralston answered with a 3 and took a 24-23 lead into the halftime.

The Wildcats never relinquished the lead in the 2nd half and built a 10 point lead with a 9-0 run early in the 3rd. Coon Rapids Bayard cut it to 3 at 37-34 and had it to 6 six times after that but never had it under 6 the rest of the game. Gretchen Wallace and Morgan Koehler were huge all night for Glidden Ralston. Koehler had 9 points at half and cranked up her defense in the 2nd half while Wallace scored 15 points in the 2nd half.

Mia Leighty and Brynn Bass carried the Crusader offense in the 1st half combining for 21 of the teams 23 points. Leighty had 11 and Bass 10 but the Wildcats did a nice job in the 2nd half containing both of them.

Wallace led Glidden Ralston with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Morgan Koehler finished with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Leighty led Coon Rapids Bayard with 18 points, Bass added 13 points and Alaya Betts finished with 10 points. Breeley Clayburg added 10 rebounds in the loss.

The Wildcats improved to 4-4 overall and 3-4 in the Rolling Valley Conference as they travel to West Harrison on Friday. Coon Rapids Bayard fell to 4-4 overall and 3-4 in the Rolling Valley as they head off to Woodbine on Friday.

Early foul trouble didn’t slow down the Rockets on Tuesday as they snapped a 6 game losing streak and picked up their 2nd win of the season. The Rockets fell down early and trailed by 5 after the 1st quarter and at half but felt good about where they were. The got a very good effort from the bench after they had the early foul trouble and the defense kept them close. Offensively the Rockets had 8 girls score and several girls came up clutch down the stretch.

Ar-We-Va came out in the 3rd and took a lead. They led by 3 heading to the 4th. The veterans took over late as Sara Schurke, Hannah Kraus and Jadeyn Smith had big buckets in the closing minutes. Maggie Ragaller hit a pair of crucial free throws and Bridget Cameron and Timberlen Koch added a couple big rebounds.

The offense was balanced with 8 girls scoring and Jadeyn Smith and Hannah Kraus each had 9 points, Sara Schurke and Bridget Cameron finished with 8 points each and Maggie Ragaller added 7 points. Smith led them with 13 rebounds while Cameron added 8 and Schurke had 7 rebounds. Kraus also had 4 steals.

Ar-We-Va will look for their 2nd straight win when they host Audubon on Thursday. The Rockets improved to 2-8 overall and 2-6 in the Rolling Valley Conference.

Audubon showed what they are capable of in jumping out quickly against Riverside on Tuesday and cruising to their 3rd win of the season. The Wheelers were up 15 after the 1st quarter after pouring in 22 points. Their pressure defense created turnovers which led to opportunities on the offensive end. Audubon finished with 16 steals including 4 each for Sydney Beymer and Jaci Christensen.

The Wheelers had three girls in double figures and a fourth with 8 points. Aleah Hermansen finished with a team high 22 points, Jaci Chrsitensen added 14 points, 8 rebounds, Sienna Albertsen added 10 points and Katelyn Nielsen finished with 8 points. Kodie Sporrer added 7 rebounds.

The win improves the Wheelers to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in the Western Iowa Conference. They are back in action at Ar-We-Va on Thursday.

It took until the 2nd half and even the 4th quarter before South Central Calhoun was able to secure their 9th win of the season but a 20 point 4th quarter helped seal the deal in a tough road win. The offense began to click midway through the 3rd as South Central Calhoun rallied from down 6 at half to lead by 2 heading into the 4th quarter.

South Central Calhoun created 21 turnovers but had 22 of their own. The difference for the Titans was from beyond the arc. South Central Calhoun hit 6-21 which is only 28.6% but the Falcons were 1 for 10. The 15 point differential was critical in the 11 point win.

Kylee Schleisman had a team high 14 points along with 3 steals, Riley Batta finished with 12 points. Brielle Korleski had a team high 6 rebounds and Emma Anderson led the team with 4 steals.

The win improves the Titans to 9-1 as they host Storm Lake St Mary’s on Friday.

The  IKM-Manning defense set the tempo early as the Wolves jumped ahead 18-2 at the end of the 1st quarter. The defense had 37 steals on the night with Alexa Ahrenholtz, Nicole Hanson, Taylor Ferneding and Bianca Cadwell combining for 30. The steals led to several easy baskets as the Wolves shot 45% from the inside the arc and 33% from three point range. The Wolves extended the lead to 31 points by half and pitched a shutout in the 4th quarter.

Nicole Hanson had a game high 22 points to go with 7 steals. Alexa Ahrenholtz added 16 points with 11 steals and 5 assists. Taylor Ferneding had 7 steals and Bianca Cadwell added 5 steals.

The win moves the Wolves to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the Western Iowa Conference. They will host Underwood on Thursday.

A tough 4th quarter dropped Paton Churdan to 7-2 on the season as they scored just 4 points after taking a 30-28 lead into the final stanza. The Rockets led by 5 at half and were tied after the opening quarter. They went cold from beyond the arc hitting just 4-19 shots from deep while shooting 60% from 2 point range. The Rockets also had 19 turnovers.

Danielle Hoyle was the only player in double figures with 17 points. Hoyle and Karissa Stephenson each 6 rebounds. Carmyn Paup passed o ut 5 assists.

The Rockets are back in action on Friday as they host CAM Anita.
