St. Anthony Extends Application Deadline For Program Providing Opportunities To Earn While Learning New Career

St. Anthony Regional Hospital has announced an extension to the deadline for application to their Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Apprenticeship program to Monday, Feb. 15. For those interested in pursuing a career as a CNA, the apprenticeship program provides the basic and advanced training courses in partnership with Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and certification testing at no charge. Those accepted into the program will also receive a uniform allowance, Geriatric Specialty certification and one year of mentored on-the-job training. CNAs provide care and support to people of all ages in a variety of settings that includes hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and in-home care. “The CNA Apprenticeship program provides an ‘earn and learn’ model for building healthcare careers,” says St. Anthony President and CEO, Ed Smith. “Those enrolled in the program receive a paycheck as they work toward credentials in high-demand jobs. We are excited to provide this training opportunity for those interested in joining the healthcare workforce,” Smith adds. The initiative is funded through the Iowa Workforce Development Coronavirus Relief Registered Apprenticeship grant program—giving those impacted by the pandemic the ability to earn a wage while training for a new career. To apply for an apprenticeship, log on to the St. Anthony website or contact the St. Anthony Education Services Department, details on how to do both are included below.
