Gertrude Nagl of Carroll

Gertrude Nagl, 102 of Carroll, died Sunday morning, December 20, 2020 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
A Funeral Mass will be held in the spring when circumstances allow.
Should one desire memorials may be mailed to Gertrude Nagl Family, c/o Sharp Funeral Home, 226 W. 8th St. Carroll, IA 51401.

The daughter of Benjamin and Anna (Ludeen) Davis, Gertrude was born on April 19, 1918 at her family home.  She grew up on her family’s farm near Storm Lake, Iowa and graduated from Storm Lake High School.  On July 15th, 1940, Gertrude was united in marriage to Louis Nagl at St. Peter and Paul rectory in Carroll with Fr. Leo Lenz officiating.  Gertrude and Louis made their home in Carroll. Gertrude and Louis owned and operated the historic Burke Hotel on Hwy 30 in Carroll in the 1960s where she managed operations of the hotel restaurant.
Gertrude was a devoted homemaker, and also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and for many years the St. Anthony Auxiliary in different capacities.  She loved dancing, playing bridge and spent a lot of time crocheting and listening to music.  She was a member of the St. John Paul II Parish-Holy Spirit Church and in her younger years was a member of the Parish Ladies Guild.
Gertrude is survived by her 3 daughters: Mary Collison of Carroll, Elaine Corsbie and (significant other Dale Stork) of Carroll, and Susan Nagl and her spouse Patricia Pap of Barnstable, MA; 2 sons, David Nagl and his spouse Sharon (Carlson) of Cedar Falls, IA and Richard Nagl and his spouse Dorothy (Klein) of Colorado Springs, CO, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband Louis, who passed away on July 28, 1997; her parents; her siblings- Ray, Irene, Lloyd and half-brother Fred; and two son-in-laws, Paul Collison and Dan Corsbie.
