Help Is Available For Those Serious About Kicking A Nicotine Habit

Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) is looking ahead to the New Year and is ready to help many keep their resolutions. Beginning on Jan. 1, they will work with nicotine users who are looking to quit through the Cold Turkey Challenge. “We are recruiting serious and dedicated individuals in our service area who genuinely want to kick the nicotine habit,” says MRHC Education Nurse, Julie Hodne. “MRHC is providing support and programming to help you quit for good,” she says. The eight-week challenge will run through Feb. 26 and smokers, chewers and vapers will get support from the healthcare center as well as spouses, friends, local businesses and community members who will encourage them to quit and stick to it. Participants will be tested for the presence of nicotine three times throughout the eight weeks to ensure full cessation is being met. The Cold Turkey Challenge will be taking place across the state in communities of 5,000 or less. The winning Iowa community will receive $50,000 for designated improvements. To participate as a quitter or a support ally, fill out the application available through the link included below or call Hodne at 712-655-8179.
