Glidden’s Annual Winter Wonderland Scheduled For Dec. 6 With Changes Due To COVID-19

With Thanksgiving now come and gone, city officials in Glidden are already looking forward to celebrating the Christmas season with their annual Winter Wonderland festivities. Administrator, Brooke Peterson, says the COVID-19 pandemic has forced them to make some major changes to the activities planned during the Sunday, Dec. 6 event.

The traditional Christmas tree in downtown Glidden was delivered last week and is set up at the intersection of Idaho and West 2nd Streets. Peterson says they are adding something special this year to get the community involved in decorating it.

The bulbs are available for pickup in the hallway just outside of the Glidden City Hall offices. Families can retrieve their custom decorations after Christmas, assuming they were not damaged or lost while exposed to the winter elements. Another aspect of Winter Wonderland is some form of community meal. Due to limitations on indoor gatherings, they are instead hosting a drive-through soup supper at the American Legion to benefit the Glidden Swim Team.

Delivery can be requested by calling 712-790-0841 and meals will be available from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Clauses will be in downtown from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more details, contact Glidden City Hall at 712-659-3010.
