The City of Audubon is getting into the holiday spirit already with the purchase of new decorations for the community’s downtown and main thoroughfares. City Clerk, Joe Foran, says the Parks and Recreation board approached the council during their meeting with a request for funding for the new decorations.
Audubon has put up the same decorations for years, and Foran says they have been using the same materials for close to a decade. He says months of storage plus exposure to the winter elements had taken a toll on the city-owned garland.
The Parks and Recreation Board estimates they will need approximately $7,000 to purchase the hundreds of feet of garland and Christmas lights. Foran is not sure when the materials will be delivered, but he expects they will be going up around town soon after they arrive.
