Florence Marie Fricke, age 103, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
A private funeral service will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Ryan Roehrig officiating. Casket bearers will be Florence’s grandchildren. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.

Florence was born on June 7, 1917 on her family’s farm north of Carroll where she lived her entire life. She was the daughter of Henry and Ella (Warnke) Boell. Florence’s mother passed away when she was five years old and she was raised by her father and her loving family. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll, and she attended Grant Township Country School until the 8th grade. Florence was married to Elmer Fricke on September 25, 1938 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. The couple farmed the Boell family farm where they raised their four children and Florence was very active in the farming operation. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aide and church circle. Florence enjoyed volunteering at the New Hope Village Store, crafting, needlework, and spending time with her family. She was famous for her lemon pie.
Florence is survived by her children and their families: son Paul Fricke (Patty) of Carroll, son Ron Fricke (Renee) of Carroll, daughter Maxine Toigo (Anthony) of Indianola, and daughter Diane Halbur (Don) of Ankeny, IA; seven grandchildren: Doug Fricke (Jeannette) of Grimes, IA, Sheila Briley (John) of Minburn, IA, Craig Fricke (Beth) of Carroll, Marie Streeter (Danny) of Lanesboro, IA, Heather Erickson (Derik) of Eldridge, IA, Angela Wietzema (Troy) of Worthington, MN, and Tony Toigo of Indianola, IA; twenty one great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Ella Boell; her mother and father-in-law Emma and Adolph Fricke; a sister Edna Wenck (Clarence), four brothers: Elmer Boell (Henrietta), Paul Boell (Helen), Floyd Boell (Eva), and George in infancy; her in-laws: Dorothy Johnson (Georgie) and Harry Fricke (Mildred); a grandson Steven Halbur ; and her husband Elmer in 1994.
