Sac County Deputy And K-9 Earn Award During Recent Recertification

Sac County Deputy, Sgt. Johnathan Meyer, and his partner, K-9 Petey, received an award during a recent training re-certification. The Sac County Sheriff’s Office reports that the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) hosted the re-certification in narcotics detection last week. Sgt. Meyer and Petey had the second fastest time in vehicle searches, landing a second-place trophy among the 57 teams in the competition and certification. The team was tasked with passing two tests, vehicle searches and room searches. In the vehicle search, there are two items hidden among five vehicles. In the room searches, three rooms are used to hide two items. The K-9s must check all five vehicles and search all three rooms and accurately indicate to the handler that drugs are present and where they are located.
