Gov. Reynolds Announces Launch Of Grant Program For County Fairs Impacted By COVID-19 Restrictions

Gov. Kim Reynolds announced today (Monday) the launch of a new COVID-related grant program aimed at providing relief to county and district fairs negatively impacted by the pandemic. Reynolds says, “Every single year, Iowans who attend their local county fair get to see, taste and experience the positive impact Iowa agriculture has on our communities. The economic and social impact is immeasurable and it’s critical they have our support to continue operations in preparation for next year.” Up to $6 million in CARES Act funds have been allocated for the Iowa County Fairs Relief Program through the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) in collaboration with the Association of Iowa Fairs (AIF). To be eligible for the $25,000, $50,000 or $75,000 grants, applicants must meet the Iowa Code definition of a fair, hold an AIF member since at least March 17, 2020, hosted an event this year that was subject to state-issued limitations and experienced a revenue loss from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30 compared to the same period a year ago. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Nov. 16. For more detailed eligibility requirements or application instructions, use the information included below.
