The Carroll Area Child Care Center and Preschool (CACCCP) has received state recognition for their work in helping individuals with disabilities gain meaningful employment. Recently, the Iowa Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE) presented the center with the 2020 Employer Award. Just over two years ago, New Hope approached management at the child care center about an individual who was interested in working there with the children. Assistant Director, Keely Fara, worked closely with New Hope Job Developers to conduct assessments and explore the fit for all involved. New Hope’s Director of Vocational Services, Jen Daniel, credits Fara, who utilizes a soft, caring and welcoming approach. “We’ve seen great success for individuals who may have struggled in other situations, but have flourished at CACCCP. When we ask them about their employment, they tell us they feel at home in their job and love what they’re doing,” Daniel says. “When we ask why, they say it’s because Keely is a great person to work for, always helpful and smiling.” Currently, the CACCCP employs two individuals through the New Hope Employment Resources program.
