Kuemper came out sharp on Monday, serving, hitting and passing the ball well. The Knights never trailed and were only tied twice during the match. Both of those ties came in set one. Kuemper got out quickly as Kenya Prescott served them on a 6-0 run to go up 7-1. The Falcons answered with a 6-0 run but Kuemper resonded with service runs by Kamryn Venner and Avarie Pedelty. Kuemper went on a 14-1 run to put the 1st set away. Ashlyn Badding was finding all of the hitters early and Kenzie Schon and Julia Mikkelsen had big first sets.
Schon put Kuemper ahead in set two with a 5-0 service run to start the set. Ashlyn Badding followed that with an 8-0 service run to put the Knights up 13-2. The Falcons kept fighting and cut the deficit to 21-16 but Mikkelsen again came up with a couple big kills to get Kuemper the momentum back and they won 21-17.
Ashlyn Badding put Kuemper in control in set 3 starting it with a 7-0 service run to put them up 8-0. The Falcons pulled within 4 but never got closer as the Knights advance to the Regional Semifinals on Wednesday against MOC Floyd Valley at Orange City on KCIM.
Julia Mikkelsen had a great night as the senior played her last home match. She led the Knights with 15 kills and was followed by a balanced attack with Kenzie Schon and Sophie Badding each with 9 kills, Kamryn Venner added 7 kills. Ashlyn Badding moved the ball around well and finished with 36 assists to go with 8 digs and a team high 3 aces. Kenya Prescott led an active back row with 20 digs, Kenzie Schon finished with 17, Kamryn Venner added 11 and Avarie Pedelty had 10. Frannie Glynn led the Knights with 3 blocks.
The win moves Kuemper to 21-10.

IKM-Manning dominated sets three and four and got a big night from Bianca Cadwell at the net as they advance to the Regional Quarterfinals with a four set win over Ogden. The Wolves nabbed their third win of the season improving to 3-20. They travel to East Sac on 94.7 KKRL on Wednesday.
Bianca Cadewell had her best hitting night of the season finishing with a team high 15 kills. The junior added 11 digs. Taylor Ferneding kept finding Cadwell and finished with 17 assists. The back row was sharp with 5 players with 10 or more digs led by Lauren Danner with 15, Macie Doyle, Cadwell and Sierra Ferry each had 11 digs and Taylor Ferneding added 10. Ferry had a team high 3 aces.

Coon Rapids Bayard won a three set match over Audubon in the opening round of Regionals on Monday. The Crusaders advance to 16-3 on the season and will host Riverside on Wednesday on KIKD 106.7. Audubon season comes to an end at 3-12. The Wheelers battled through Covid this season, missing 5 weeks of the season but were playing their best volleyball at the end of the season. The Crusaders looked sharp coming off the conference tournament championship on Saturday.
Alaya Betts led a balanced attack at the net with 9 kills for Coon Rapids Bayard. Alexa Culbertson added 8 kills and Mia Leighty and Brynn Bass each had 5 kills. Cassidy Baker added to her career assist total with 25 more on Monday to go with 10 digs. Brynn Bass led the team with 14 digs, Chloe Parkis had 13 and Lacie Davis finished with 9 digs. Alaya Betts and Brynn Bass each had 2 aces.
Audubon had three players with 3 kills each. Mattie Nielsen, Elizabeth Zaiger and Jaci Christensen paced the Wheelers at the net. Aleah Hermansen had a team high 7 assists. Mattie Nielsen had 8 digs, Jaci Christensen had 5 digs. Elizabeth Zaiger and Kali Irlmeier each had 2 blocks.

Glidden Ralston bounced back from a tough performance at the conference tournament on Saturday and looked sharp on Monday topping Boyer Valley in three sets. The Wildcats controlled all three sets, getting good performances from Morgan Koehler, Kim Daily and Gretchen Wallace. The win moves the Wildcats into the Regional Quarterfinals on Wednesday. The 13-8 Wildcats will face off with LoMa in Logan.
Morgan Koehler had her best night hitting the ball and led the Wildcats with 15 kills while adding 5 digs. Gretchen Wallace is the focal point of most defenses and stil finished with 7 kills. Vanessa Koehler added 6 kills and Paige Klocke added 5 kills. Kim Daily had 30 assists and 2 aces. Haley Onken paced the back row with 8 digs while Lauren Klocke finished with 6 digs.

Ar-We-Va was looking for their third win this season against the Tigers and second in last couple days after beating them Saturday at the conference tournament in Woodbine. The Rockets started slowly and dropped the first set. Things changed for them in set two as they increased their intensity and were able to win set two and rolled to a 10 point win in set 3. With a 2-1 lead and the momentum the Rockets felt good heading into set four but they quickly fell behind and trailed by as many as 15 points. They battled back but couldn’t quite make up the difference but had momentum heading into set five. The Rockets battled in the 5th set but a few errors in key situations allowed the Tigers to hold on for the win. The loss ended Ar-We-Va season at 8-16.
Jadeyn Smith and Kora Obrecht were coming off good performances this weekend and led the Rockets with 9 kills and 7 kills respectively. Sara Schurke and Jamie Hausman each had 6 kills. Schurke added 21 assists, 8 digs and 4 aces. Smith had a team high 11 digs with Hausman adding 10 digs, followed by Hannah Kraus and Maggie Ragaller with 8 each. Jamie Hausman finished with 3 aces and Bridget Cameron, Jadeyn Smith and Hannah Kraus each had 2 aces.

Paton Churdan had to rally from a 2-0 hole on the road Monday to advance to the Region Quarterfinals and they did it with great serving and outstanding play in the back row. The Rockets struggled in serve receive the first two sets but settled down heading into the 3rd set and began to take control. The 10 point win in the 3rd set gave them momentum heading into the 4th set which was a battle. Danielle Hoyle and Tessa Steimel took over at the net offensively and the back row just kept digging balls as the Rockets pulled out a 27-25 win to send it to a 5th set. They dominated the 5th set to advance to play AGWSR on the road on Wednesday. The win improves Paton Churdan to 10-9 on the season.
Danielle Hoyle was huge at the net with a team high 28 kills to go with 28 digs and 2 blocks. Tessa Steimel was the other go to hitter Monday night and finished with 13 kills while Carmyn Paup added 6 kills. Chloe Berns was critical to the team’s success as she kept finding the right hitters and had 42 assists to go with a team high 6 aces. The Rockets finished with 18 aces. Joining Berns with serving success was Steimel with 4 aces, Paup had 3 and Hannah Bundt and Karissa Stephenson each had 2. Hoyle again led the team with 28 digs while Stepenson added 16 digs, Bailey Anderson added 14 digs, Carmyn Paup 12 and Berns added 9.
