City Of Audubon Receives Grant From Wellmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield For Recreation Equipment In Legion Park

The City of Audubon has been awarded a $10,700 grant from Wellmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield to expand on the community’s existing recreational opportunities. According to Clerk, Joe Foran, residents should expect to see some new attractions being installed in Legion Park near the high school.

Foran says the city has already started receiving some of the equipment and portions of the preliminary work are already underway.

Foran says pickleball players will have to wait until next spring before they take to the courts, but the disc golf baskets and hoops may be installed before the start of winter if the weather cooperates. He says recreational projects can be expensive, but they are stretching their grant money with some help through in-kind labor donations from local businesses and residents.

Prior to the installation of the pickleball court and disc golf course, the only recreational equipment in Legion Park was some playground equipment and aging basketball court. Foran says the Parks and Recreation staff is excited to be expanding the leisure opportunities offered in Audubon.
