Volleyball Results Saturday, October 17th
Coon Rapids Bayard, Glidden Ralston, Ar-We-Va and Paton Churdan At Rolling Valley Conference Tournament At Woodbine
Coon Rapids Bayard edged CAM Anita for the Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday taking the 3rd set 17-15. The Crusaders dominated the first set before struggling in the 2nd set and then rebounding to play well again in set 3. The Crusaders topped Glidden Ralston in the semifinals to advance into the title match. Cassidy Baker had a great day as she surpassed 2000 assists in her career. Paton Churdan lost to Boyer Valley in the opening round but bounced back to beat Glidden Ralston for 3rd place. The Rockets won the first set 21-4 as Danielle Hoyle had 9 aces to start the match. The Wildcats fought back winning set 2, 21-18 but Paton Churdan edged them 18-16 in the final set. The Wildcats had a tough day dropping both of their matches. Ar-We-Va went 2-0 on the day winning their portion of the tournament but they couldn’t place higher than 6th with the tournament being broken into two pods and played in separate gyms. The Rockets were sharp in wins over West Harrison and Woodbine. They dominated West Harrison and then rolled in the first set against Woodbine before falling in the second set and having to win it in 3. Kora Obrecht had a nice rally in the 3rd set in the middle and Sara Schurke went on a service run as they pulled away to win 15-9.
Cassidy Baker went over 2000 assists in her career and finished with a team high 33 assists to help the Crusaders to the crown. She added 14 digs and 6 kills. Alexa Culbertson played big in the middle with a team high 16 kills, Alaya Betts added 7 kills. Chloe Parkis finished with 29 digs while Gracy Johnson looked smooth in the back row with 15 digs and Lacie Davis added 13. Mia Leighty had a team high 4 blocks with Culbertson and Breely Clayburg each with 3.
Danielle Hoyle had 9 aces in one match for Paton Churdan and finished with 10 for the day. She added 17 kills, 23 digs and 4 blocks. Tessa Steimel added 6 kills and 13 digs. Chloe Berns finished with 27 assists and 11 digs. Carmyn Paup added 6 aces 8 digs and Karissa Stephenson had 16 digs and 3 aces.
Gretchen Wallace continued her good season with a team high 14 kills and Morgan Koehler added 5 kills. Kim Daily had 21 assists for the Wildcats. Lauren Klocke had a team high 7 digs and Wallace led the team with 3 blocks.
Jadeyn Smith paced Ar-We-Va with 14 kills with Kora Obrecht had 8 and Bridget Cameron finished with 7. Sara Schurke found her hitters all day and had 26 assists. Maggie Ragaller was diving all over the floor and led the Rockets with 7 digs while Hannah Kraus added 6. Sara Schurke had 4 aces in the win over Woodbine and finished the day with 5 while Jadeyn Smith added 4.
The Crusaders improved to 15-3 and will host Audubon on Monday in Regional play. Paton Churdan heads to St Edmond for Regionals at 9-9. Glidden Ralston entertains Boyer Valley with a 12-8 mark and Ar-We-Va heads back to Woodbine at 8-15.

South Central Calhoun At Winterset Tournament
South Central Calhoun went 2-2 on the day with wins over Chariton and a good win over Norwalk who is 17-17 on the season. The Titans two losses came to ranked teams in Gilbert and Red Oak who met for the tournament championship with Red Oak winning. The Titans moved to 15-22 on the season as they head into Regionals on Wednesday. The Titans were 2nd in their pool to Gilbert before losing in the semifinals to Red Oak. They had a break between the semi’s and their big win over Norwalk where they had played very well.
Kortney Riley had a team high 23 kills with Riley Batta adding 10 kills and Laci Reidesel finishing with 7. Batta led the three setters with 29 assists with Sally Musselman finishing with 12. Batta 27, Emma Geno 25 and Kortney Riley 21 all had over 20 digs. Laci Reidesel was outstanding at the service line with 6 aces while Batta added 5. Reidesel and Keira Hammen each had 3 blocks.
South Central Calhoun hosts Manson NW Webster in the 2nd round of Regionals on Wednesday.
