Take A Spooktacular Drive Through The Carroll Recycling Center As They Celebrate 30 Years

The Carroll Recycling Center is celebrating their 30th anniversary with a Spooktacular Drive Through Landfill Adventure on Saturday, Oct. 24. “This is a first and one-of-a-kind opportunity for citizens to drive through our facility and experience the Recycling Center and Landfill up close and personal,” says Director of the Carroll County Solid Waste Management Commission (CCSWMC), Mary Wittry. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the property at 19111 Kittyhawk Ave. in Carroll, participants will tune their radio to 88.5 FM, make a stop for a goodie bag and then proceed on a three-mile tour as the pre-recorded messages play across their radio. Witches, ghouls and other creepy creatures may be found along the way to help guide visitors. The tour will include a stop at the new solar array then wind through the various areas of disposal and collection, showcasing how they recycle and repurpose everything they can and provide clean, renewable energy sources to power the facilities. Everyone is asked to remain in their vehicles during the tour. The Carroll Recycling Center will also be giving away three upcycled pallets featuring fall décor.
