The trial for a Carroll man accused of sexual contact with a minor has been rescheduled and is now set to begin next week. According to Carroll County District Court records, 19-year-old Michael John William Lyons faces one count of third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony. The charge stems from an investigation by the Carroll Police Department that found Lyons had performed sex acts with a 13-year-old female between April 15 and May 31. He pled not guilty to the felony count in July and was originally slated to go before a jury on Sept. 15. Due to scheduling issues, the trial was pushed back and will instead begin on Tuesday, Oct. 20. If found guilty of the charge, Lyons faces up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
