East Sac Volleyball Goes to 20-0. Audubon Returns to Action and IKM-Manning and SCC Fall on Thursday

East Sac came out sharp as they improved to 20-0 overall and 10-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Raiders were very aggressive early and played with a very quick tempo that caught the Titans off guard. Bree Boeckman and Makayla Meyer had a nice service run in the 1st set helping the Raiders build and 11 point lead. Maty Quirk energized the team with several big one on one blocks and a few heady kills during that run. The Raiders never left the lead get under 10 the rest of the set.

South Central Calhoun came out much more relaxed in set 2 and Riley Batta served them to a 3-0 lead that grew to 5-1 before East Sac started chipping away. The Raiders would grab their first lead at 11-10 but the Titans answered and went back on top 13-12. East Sac was very balanced all night and went back up 14-13. They extended the lead to 22-16.

South Central Calhoun hung tight early in set 3 but the Raiders grabbed a 4-3 lead and went on to pull away for the win. The Raiders were sharp in every phase on Thursday and showed they have a number of weapons. They finished with 39 blocks and nearly had three players in double digits. Bree Boeckman and Makayla Meyer had a couple nice service runs.

Bailey Wollesen led the balanced attack with 8 kills and 5 blocks, Bree Boeckman added 7 kills and 8 blocks, Olivia Wernimont had 7 kills and 9 blocks, Maty Quirk finished with 4 kills and 8 blocks. Makayla Meyer led the team with 14 assists and did a nice job of spreading the ball around. She added blocks. Abby Scott had the teams other 3 blocks. Maty Quirk would add 10 assists.

Kortney Riley again led the Titans with 9 kills as her and Riley Batta worked well together. Batta finished with 13 assists. Emma Geno was all over the floor getting to several balls that were out of bounds that looked like they would be Raider points. She finished with 15 digs. Batta was 2nd on the team with 8 digs.

East Sac heads to Alta Aurelia with 1st place in the conference on the line Thursday while South Central Calhoun who fell to 12-19 overall and 5-3 in the conference heads to Sioux Central to play them and Newell Fonda Thursday.

IKM-Manning At Riverside

IKM-Manning played well on Thursday and maybe played their best match in the last couple weeks. They fought hard and came close to taking the 1st set on the road before falling 25-21. The loss drops them to 2-17 overall and 0-6 in the Western Iowa Conference as they head into the Conference Tournament on Monday.

Neveah Boland paced the back row with 11 digs, Bianca Cadwell added 10 digs, Lauren Danner had 8 and Amber Halbur and Taylor Ferneding each had 6. Bre Muhlbauer, Sierra Ferry, Lauren Danner, Kylie Powers, Bianca Cadwell, Amber Halbur and Neveah Boland all had 3 kills. Ferneding had a team high 9 assists with Halbur passing out 6. Ferry had a team high 2 aces.

Audubon At LoMa

For the Audubon Wheelers it was about getting back on the court on Thursday. They played their first match since September 17th Vs Tri Center. The Wheelers fell in three, dropping them to 0-9 overall and 0-4 in the Western Iowa Conference. Head Coach Liz Stein says the scores didn’t show how her kids played and the hustle they had. The Wheelers will get to play again on Monday as they head to the conference tournament.

Elizabeth Zaiger led the attack with 6 kills, Mattie Nielsen added 4 kills. Addie Hocker had 8 assists. Zaiger also had a team high 8 digs while Nielsen, Johanna Sauers and Jaci Christensen each finished with 6 and Hocker had 5.
