Delores Jean Bonney, age 83, of Carroll, IA, and formerly of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids with Pastor Alan Miller officiating. Casket bearers will be Delores’ grandchildren. Burial will be in Orange Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids.
Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church for one hour prior to the service on Monday. Those in attendance are asked to abide by Covid – 19 social distancing guidelines and face masks are recommended.

Delores was born on August 13, 1937 in Lake City, IA, and was the daughter of Walter and Sylvia (Schroeder) Beckman. She grew up in Lake City and Carroll graduating from high school in 1956. She was married to Richard Bonney on November 17, 1957 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. The family lived in the Coon Rapids area from 1963 – 1987. They moved to Aurora, CO where they both worked at Stapleton International Airport as custodians. Richard passed away in 1997 and Delores moved to Denver, CO until moving back to Carroll in October of 2019 due to failing health. Delores was an avid Denver Broncos fan, she took great pride in her home, and she loved spending time with her family. She was always on the go.
Delores is survived by her four daughters and their families: Debra Smouse of Carroll, Denise Gehling (Bruce) of Carroll, Kristy Hickey (Timothy) of Ft. Lupton, CO, and Brenda Davis (Jefferson) of Thornton, CO; ten grandchildren: Misty Vrbas, Amanda Smouse (Scott Rose), Marcus Sheer, Teresa Baker (Chris), Terri Gehling, Steven Gehling, Jennifer Mattison (Peter), Stefanie Belfakin (Hatim), Nora Anderson; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister Dorothy Frank of Wall Lake, IA; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Sylvia Beckman; her mother and father-in-law Frances and Joseph Bonney; two sisters: Darlene Hartje and Diane Nieland; and one brother Donald Beckman; and two grandsons Nicholas Gehling and Shane Hickey.
