Carroll County Ties For Highest One Day COVID-19 Positive Increase On Friday

COVID-19 positive cases in Carroll County tied for the highest one-day total on Friday with 34 reported. The county had also recorded 34 new cases on Monday, Aug. 17. As of 7 a.m. today (Monday), the total sits at 387 with 197 recovered and two coronavirus-related deaths since the onset of the pandemic. Carroll County ranks sixth highest in the state with a two-week positivity percentage at 19.5 percent. A system upgrade to the state’s reporting site over the weekend caused some wide fluctuations in numbers, but the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) says the issue has been fixed and the real-time reporting of statistical data is current. For the remainder of the area as of Monday morning: Crawford County has a 16.3 percent positivity rate with 832 cases, 715 of which are recovered and three deaths; Calhoun is at 13.4 percent with 126 positives, 87 recovered and two deaths; Audubon has risen to a 9.6 percent positivity rate with 41 cases, 27 recovered and one death; Guthrie is at 7.9 percent with 173 positives, 126 recovered and five deaths; Sac’s percentage is close behind at 7.8 percent with 114 positives and 82 recovered; and Greene County remains the lowest percentage in the region at 5.3 percent with 54 positive cases and 38 recovered. The state of Iowa is reporting a total of 64,713 positive cases with 46,651 recovered and 1,112 deaths.
