Sac City Council Moves Forward With Joint Streetscape Project In Downtown District

The Sac City Council is moving forward with soliciting bids on a proposed streetscape project in the community’s downtown district. According to Administrator, Jamie Lawrence, the council voted unanimously at their meeting earlier this week to proceed with the project. He explains what the planned work would entail.

He adds the bulk of the construction will occur within that intersection, but they also have plans for work outside that immediate area.

Initial estimates for the project’s cost come in around $1 million. Lawrence says funding will be sourced from both the City of Sac City and the Criss Trust.

The city is still waiting for the design and specifications from the project engineer. Once the council has received those documents, Lawrence says they can then put the project out to bid and scheduled a public hearing. He expects construction will likely occur sometime during spring or summer of 2021.
