Atlantic At Kuemper- Varsity Doubleheader

Defensive struggles allowed Atlantic to build a lead and take the opening game of the night. The Knights allowed just 4 earned runs but lost by 8.

Kenzie Schon led an 8 hit attack going 2-3 including a double. Kenadee Loew and Kiley Trecker also doubled and finished 1-3. Kamryn Venner had a team high 2 RBI while Jordan Schwabe, Brianna Lux also added an RBI.

Carlee Carpenter gave up no earned runs in 6 innings but took the loss. She gave up 9 hits while striking out 4.

The Knights dropped the 2nd game of the double header to fall to 3-4 on the season. The offense was better with 13 hits but the defense again allowed 4 unearned runs which was nearly the difference in the game.

Kynday Hilgenberg, Jordan Schwabe, Hailey Ostrander, Kenzie Schon and Kenadee Loew all had 2 hits. Hilgenberg, Ostrander and Schon each had a pair of RBI. Hilgenberg, Loew and Kiley Trecker all scored twice.

The Knights will look to bounce back Wednesday at Red Oak.

The Carroll Tigers bats had been quite most of the season but they weren’t on Tuesday as the Tigers pounded out 10 hits in 2 innings of work. Carroll scored 8 runs in the 1st and added 3 more in the 2nd to move to 2-3 on the season. The Raiders who had been hitting the ball well ran into a buzz saw and had just two girls reach base. Maty Quirk singled to lead off the game and Laryn Sharp was hit by a pitch in the 3rd. Sharp was stranded at 3rd and Quirk at 2nd.

Josie Ayala led the Tiger attack going 3-3 with a triple and 4 RBI. She had been on base twice in the 1st inning but was the only Tiger not to score when she tripled in the 3rd. That changed with Chloe Gallegos knocked her in to make it 13-0. Gallegos finished 2-2 as did Makalei Kofron.  Ashley Onken, Vanessa Ayala and Sydney Haakenson all had a hit. Gallegos added 2 RBI.

Both teams will be in action on Wednesday with Carroll hosting Perry and East Sac heading to Manson NW Webster.

The Wildcats dropped their 2nd straight on Tuesday to fall to 3-2 overall. The game was tied at 1-1 until the Spartans scored 6th in the 4th and 3 more in the 5th to end it. Talia Schon picked up 2 of the teams 4 hits. Jozey Gump doubled and drove in Schon for the only run and RBI. Gretchen Wallace singled for their final hit.

The Wildcats will look to bounce back on Wednesday At CAM Anita.

Audubon picked up another good win as they moved to 5-3 on the season. The Wheelers used a 4-run 4th inning to take control of the game. Katelyn Nielsen doubled knocking in a run, Kali Irlmeier singled home a run and Johanna Sauers had a Sac Fly to score another run.

Kali Irlmeier pitched a terrific game giving up just 7 hits and 2 runs in the complete game win. She was helped out by an outstanding defensive effort as the Wheelers didn’t commit an error.

Jordan Porsch led the Wheeler attack with 2 hits. Sydney Beymer, Katelyn Nielsen, Kali Irlmeier and Kylee Hartl all had base hits. Nielsen had the double and scored a run. Beymer, Irlmeier and Kodie Sporrer scored the other 3 runs.

The Wheelers will host IKM-Manning on Thursday night on 93.7 KKRL.

The Wolves fell to 1-5 with the loss on Tuesday as they were out hit 14-4. Joanna Freese led the team with 2 hits while Lexi Branning and Zoey Melton each doubled. Branning and Bianca Cadwell picked up RBI knocking in Emily Kerkhoff and Freese.

Treynor was able to put the game away in the 6th inning. IKM-Manning heads to Audubon on 93.7 KKRL on Thursday night.
