LeRoy Turner of Glidden

Raymond “LeRoy” Turner, age 84, of Glidden passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at his home in Glidden.

A public viewing, without the family present, will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 9 – 11 A.M. on Friday, April 17, 2020.   A private graveside service will be held at the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery on Friday, April 17, 2020.    The family will have a memorial service at a later date.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

      LeRoy, as he was known to most, was born on June 9, 1935 in Carroll, IA, and was the son of Harold and Dorothy (Bell) Turner.  He grew up on his family’s farm south of Old Carrollton where he attended country school as a boy and then graduated from Glidden High School.  He attended Iowa State University and then DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago.  LeRoy returned to Glidden following college and opened Turner’s T.V. and Appliance on Main Street.  He was married to Maureen Nelson June 12, 1955 at the Methodist church in Glidden.  To this union two children were born: Randolph and Patricia.  In 1971, the Turners moved to Colorado where LeRoy was employed as a service manager for Economics Laboratories. In 1985 he started his own business, Global Environmental Technologies selling institutional cleaning products.  In 2008, he sold the business and moved back to Iowa. In retirement he worked at Walmart and later enjoyed his time volunteering at New Opportunities in Carroll.  He also enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing, photography and flying his personal airplane.

     LeRoy is survived by his son Randolph “Randy” Turner (Treenet) of Anchorage, AK; his daughter Patricia “Trish” Pedersen (Steven) of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren: Arianna and Kaitlyn Pedersen of Colorado Springs, CO, and Nicholas Turner of Anchorage, AK; two sisters Jean Pottroff (Donald) of Glidden and Margaret Griffiths of Des Moines; brother Ronald Turner (Linda) of Glidden; and several nieces and nephews. 

    LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Dorothy Turner; his brother John Turner; his first wife Maureen Turner and his wife Linda Turner.
