Beginning tomorrow (Wednesday), the City of Glidden will be closing a section of road near downtown to accommodate a training trailer for the Glidden Fire Department. Approximately one-half block of 3rd Street directly east of Idaho Street will be blocked to thru-traffic until Friday, March 13. The mobile unit simulates the conditions of a house fire and will allow more than 20 firefighters-in-training to hone their skills in preparation for the real thing. Glidden Fire Chief, Tom Weber, estimates over 50 firefighters from surrounding departments will also take part in the training over the next several days.
