Carroll County Conservation Summer Camp Registration Opens Tuesday, March 17

The first official day of spring is next Thursday, but Carroll County Conservation is already gearing up for summer with signups for their summer camps opening on Tuesday, March 17. Registration forms can be turned at the Swan Lake State Park Education Center, and Naturalist, Matt Wetrich, says they must be turned in in-person for families wanting to reserve a space for their kids on the first day.

He says they have a broad range of options available through their summer camps with the content adjusted in each to match the age of participants.

The two-hour long Caterpillar Camp is catered to ages three and four with an attending adult. Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on June 29 and 30 and July 1 and 2 and the cost to attend is $15 for the first camp and eight dollars for each additional. Cricket Camp is for kindergarteners and takes place on July 14-16 or July 21-23 with sessions on each day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m for $30 per camper. The Nature Explorers is open to kids in first, second or third grade from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 28-31 or Aug. 4-7. Registration is $45 per camper and a sack lunch is required for each day. The overnight camps begin with fourth and fifth graders at the Junior Naturalist level. On June 16 and 17 or June 24 and 25, participants will spend one night at Swan Lake State Park camping, canoeing, hiking and more. Cost is $45 per camper and meals and snacks are provided. The final camp is for sixth and seventh graders and includes a two-night stay at the Dickson Timber north of Glidden. Registration is $75 each with all meals and snacks included. More information about the summer camps and registration forms can be found included with this story on our website or by contacting the Swan Lake State Park Education Center at 792-4614.
