Audubon residents are encouraged to get into the holiday spirit this weekend during the Audubon County Economic Development’s (ACED) annual Winterpalooza. The fun gets started at 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 with the Masonic Waffle Breakfast at the Old Park Hotel in the 400 block of South Park Place, with proceeds going to support the annual Masonic scholarship. More than 20 vendors will be set up in the Memorial Building from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., and local retailers will have holiday shopping specials throughout the day. At 10:30 a.m., kids can enjoy a holiday story time at the library. There will be a North Pole Workshop from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. where children can find a gift for a parent, teacher or friend for a free will donation. Families can take holiday photos at the library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Santa Claus will be making an appearance at Clark Service and Exhaust around 11:15 a.m. The Country Players are scheduled to sing Christmas carols throughout downtown from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the Rose Theater has a special showing of the Polar Express, which begins at 1 p.m. For more information about Winterpalooza, contact the Audubon County Economic Development office at 712-563-2742.
