Carroll Teen Pleads Not Guilty To Vehicular Burglary And Resisting Arrest

A Carroll teen accused of stealing from a motor vehicle and resisting arrest has been scheduled for trial in January. Carroll County District Court records say 18-year-old Dalton Lee Andrew Maples is charged with one count of third-degree burglary, an aggravated misdemeanor, and two counts of interference with official acts, serious misdemeanors. The charges stem from an incident on Aug. 30 in the 800 block of North Clark Street. Maples was found searching through the interior compartments of a 2009 Buick Lacrosse. According to law enforcement, Maples showed signs of impairment and appeared to be intoxicated. He swung at officers when they attempted to take him into custody, requiring the officers to deploy a Taser. Maples pled not guilty to the three misdemeanor charges and is scheduled to appear before a jury on Tuesday, Jan. 14. If found guilty, he faces a maximum penalty of two years in prison and $10,000 in fines. Maples also faces a felony burglary charge for a separate incident on July 19 in which authorities say he broke into an occupied structure in the 200 block of East 10th Street with the intent to commit theft.
