Local Authorities Called To Another Rear-End Collision Monday

The Carrol County Sheriff’s Office responded to another rear-end collision, this one on U.S. Highway 71 at the intersection with 245th Street, east of Roselle, at approximately 5:04 p.m. Monday. A 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by 36-year-old Kevin Lynn Woltman of Cherokee, and a 2011 Toyota Camry, driven by 69-year-old David Gene Best of Brayton, were both northbound on 71. Woltman was slowing for a semi in front of him that was turning onto 245th Street when he looked in his mirror and saw the Camry coming in very fast. He attempted to move to the shoulder to avoid being hit, but was struck from behind by Best. The impact pushed the Woltman car into a culvert, which caused the majority of the estimated $2,000 in damage to the Jetta.
