Diane Sikkema of Carroll

Diane Lea Sikkema, age 61, of Carroll entered eternal life on July 10, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

     Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 15, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Terry Plocher officiating.  Casket bearers will be her nephews, Chad Bluml, Tyson Wilkins, Corey Bluml, Dylan Goetzinger, Noah Goetzinger, and Mitchell Sikkema.  Honorary casket bearer will be her nieces, Heidi Griffin, Mackenzie Julich, Chelsea Wilkins, Bailey Wilkins, Taylor Schneider and Katelyn Sikkema.  Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.

       Friends may call at the Dahn Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The casket will be moved to the church the church at 9:30 A.M. on Monday morning where visitation will resume until the time of service.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family atwww.dahnandwoodhouse.com

     In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the St. Anthony Hospital Cancer Center and may be left at the funeral home or the church.

     Diane was born July 25, 1957 in Carroll and was the daughter of Harold and Lois (Jones) Conrad. She graduated from Carroll High School in 1975.  Diane married her high school sweetheart Michael Sikkema on September 6, 1980.   Mike and Diane have lived in Carroll their entire marriage. She was employed at Sernett’s Department Store from 1975-1989, and then joined the American Home Shield family in 1989 until the time of her death.

     Diane’s passion was her family, being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, as they always brought her joy and happiness.  Her three sisters were a significant part of her life and best friends. They are referred to by family members as the “Crazy Conrad Sisters,” as they always make each other laugh no matter what they are doing. Diane liked simple things. She was blessed with a life full of love, and Mike always made these things possible for her. They shared a bond as husband and wife that is not replaceable.

     Diane is survived by her husband Michael; daughter Angela Owen (Ryan) of Cedar Falls; son Ryan (Kelsey) Sikkema of Marion; three grandchildren, Kyla Owen, Cruze Owen and Mason Sikkema; and in-laws Doc and Alva Sikkema of Carroll. Her sibling survivors include Linda Bluml of Carroll, Reg Conrad of Carroll, Janet (Denny) Wilkins of Westminster, Colorado, and Kim (Brian) Goetzinger of Ankeny. Her brother-in-law Steve Sikkema of Carroll, two sister-in-law’s, Kim Sikkema of Carroll, and Melissa (Herschel) Creech of Kansas City, Missouri.

      Diane is preceded in her death are her parents Harold and Lois Conrad, and her brother-in-law Tony Bluml.
