Denison Man Pleads Not Guilty To Drug Trafficking Charges; Trial Date Scheduled For Later This Year

A Denison man accused of drug trafficking has entered not guilty pleas to the charges filed against him and has been scheduled for trial later this year. According to Carroll County District Court records, 30-year-old Gerardo Medina submitted his written pleas to one count of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, a class B felony, third-offense possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, a class D felony, and carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor, late last week. On Monday, a judge signed an order setting the trial date for Aug. 13 at the Carroll County Courthouse. The charges stem from an arrest in early March by the Manning Police Department, in which Medina was found in possession of approximately six grams of marijuana, 13 grams of methamphetamine and a switchblade knife. Medina has a history of drug-related convictions, including possession and trafficking charges in Crawford, Hamilton and Shelby Counties dating back to 2006. If found guilty, Medina faces a maximum penalty of 32 years in prison and nearly $14,000 in fines. He remains in custody at the Carroll County jail on a $10,000 bond.
