The KHS Class Of 2019 Entered The Gymnasium As Kuemper Students For The Final Time Sunday

Kuemper High School seniors entered the gymnasium as students for the final time Sunday afternoon as the Class of 2019 celebrated their graduation. The stands were nearly filled to capacity with family and friends there to witness the graduates receive their diplomas. Principal, Pete Haefs, told those in attendance that he can say with confidence that this graduating class has proven they are ready to face whatever come next as they set out into the world.

Brooklyn Bakke, the daughter of Shawn and Michon Bakke, was named Salutatorian for the Class of 2019 and Cassidy Christensen, the daughter of Jason and Jen Christensen, was named Valedictorian. In her speech, Christensen urged her classmates to pursue their dreams, because in chasing that dream they will become the people they were meant to be.

The tradition of each graduate taking a moment with Father Joseph Kuemper’s pocket watch before receiving their diploma continued this year. President, John Steffes, urged the seniors to think of what legacy they will leave behind.

Seventy-six young men and woman received their diplomas Sunday afternoon. While the school year is over for the seniors, the remaining students will still be in the classrooms until their final day on Thursday, May 30.
