Homemade Explosive Device Found In Storm Lake Home

The Iowa Fire Marshal’s Office was consulted about an explosive device found in a Storm Lake home during the execution of a search warrant. The Storm Lake Police Department reports that during the course of an ongoing investigation, a warrant was being executed on Wednesday, April 24, when officers witnessed drug paraphernalia for the use of methamphetamine in plain sight. After arresting three occupants, the search continued and authorities found a homemade explosive device in the basement. It was determined there was no threat to area homes, and the Fire Marshal’s Office did remove it for safe disposal. Thirty-four-year-old Chanthachone Satibanchong, 46-year-old Philavanh Satibanchong, and 33-year-old Vongsay Maloutaphong, all of Storm Lake, were arrested. All three were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
