Official Details Released On Sunday Morning Accident Just East Of Carroll

Treacherous travel conditions this past weekend resulted in an early morning collision Sunday on the east side of Carroll. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident began earlier in the day when 21-year-old Kyle James Parker of Glidden was eastbound on Highway 30 in a 2005 Pontiac G6. He elected to turn around because of the severe snow and wind conditions. Parker made a U-turn on the highway, just east of the Country Club, and was headed back in to Carroll when he hit a snow drift and got stuck. The vehicle was abandoned in that westbound lane. At approximately 1:15 a.m., a 2014 Ford F-250, driven by 38-year-old Adam Stephen Espenhover of Carroll, was traveling eastbound, but a portion of that side of the highway was impassable. Espenhover drove into the westbound lane, but did not see the abandoned G6, hitting it head on. A passenger in the Espenhover vehicle, 48-year-old Brett Thomas Eischeid of Glidden, was injured in the incident and transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services. There was an estimated $7,000 in damage to the Ford F-250 and $5,000 in damage to the Parker vehicle. The conditions required that a plow truck be called in to help first responders get to the scene. The Carroll Police and Fire Departments assisted.
