Gov. Kim Reynolds has ordered all flags in Iowa to be lowered to half-staff to honor the victims of the weekend shooting at a Jewish synagogue. The order will remain in effect until sunset on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Eleven people were killed on Saturday, Oct. 27 when a gunman entered the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Penn. and began firing. Flags will be at half-staff at the State Capitol Building, Capitol Complex and on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff until Wednesday evening as a sign of respect. Reynolds’ order was issued in conjunction with President Trump’s order to lower all U.S. flags for the same length of time.
