SCC Students And Teachers To Raise Funds By Playing Hoops On Donkeys

A South Central Calhoun (SCC) fundraiser taking place next week features teachers, students and community members playing hoops while on the backs of donkeys. John Olson, the teacher planning the donkeyball event, says everybody should set aside time on Thursday, April 5 to make it to the show. He adds all the money raised will be going to benefit two great causes.

The SCC Parent and Teacher Organization will start the night with a pork loin dinner for only $6. Donkeyball will tip off at 7 p.m. with free donkey rides for children 12 years of age and younger between games. Teams will consist of last semester’s homecoming court, the FFA sweetheart court, teachers from all the district’s buildings and prominent community members. Olson will be one of the teachers playing. He has a bit of advice for the people playing.

Olson says the only way this event could be more fun is if they can pack the gym.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. at the middle school in Rockwell City. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $7 at the SCC middle and high schools, Lake City Hardware or Draperies Plus. Olson says admission is also available at the door for $10 the day of the games.
