Greene County Supervisors Hope To Join Central Iowa Community Services Region

The Greene County Board of Supervisors has unanimously agreed to approve a letter to request admittance to a new mental health services region. They have selected the Central Iowa Community Services Region as their preferred region to join. Supervisor, Dawn Rudolph, says they have heard many positives about the care the region provides.

Greene County is currently in the Heart of Iowa Region, but voted last month to withdraw from the organization due to concerns about the region’s services and financial oversight. Rudolph says no region is perfect, but many of the supervisor’s concerns are addressed by Central Iowa.

Greene County will remain in the Heart of Iowa Region until the end of the fiscal year. If accepted, their membership would begin July 1, 2018. Rudolph says getting approval is far from a simple yes or no answer.

Greene County would be the 11th county to join the region. Other counties serviced include Boone, Franklin, Hamilton, Hardin, Jasper, Madison, Marshall, Poweshiek, Story and Warren Counties.
