Rec Center To Get New Blocks For Pool, Thanks To Hard Work Of Carroll Area Swim Team

The Carroll Rec Center will be getting a new set of starting blocks for the pool, thanks to the hard work of the Carroll Area Swim Team. The group raised enough funds to purchase six Kiefer Evolution HT blocks at a cost of $23,656.30. Carroll Director of Parks and Recreation, Jack Wardell, says that the only cost left that is not yet determined or covered is the cost of installation. He says it could be between $6,000 to $9,000; based on the amount of work needed.

The new install will require some concrete work, that is why they are not yet sure of the total cost. Lee Ann Flood, treasurer for the swim team, says they will continue to fundraise for a portion of the installation price.

Flood says the money raised for the blocks came from fundraisers, donations by the Carroll, Kuemper, Glidden-Ralston and Sac City booster clubs and from some grants they have received. Wardell says it will take about two to three weeks to get the blocks in. Once they know when they will arrive, they will seek three quotes for installation and then proceed with the best bid.
