New Iowa Plates Allow Promotion Option For Non-Profits

The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is giving non-profit organizations throughout the state, including in Carroll County, a new, inexpensive way to promote themselves by using license plates. An Iowa law, enacted earlier this year, allows space on license plates for decals that promote non-profits. “The decal plate option will make inventory management easier for county treasurers and make it easier for non-profit groups to get their message out,” says LaVonne Short of the Iowa DOT’s Office of Vehicle and Motor Carrier Services. There is still an application process and a group must prove 501(c)(3) non-profit status from the Iowa Secretary of State’s office in order to be eligible. The group is then responsible for designing and producing their own three by three and a half inch decal to place on the plate. A sample must be submitted to the Iowa DOT for approval, and once that is received, the group is responsible for the production and distribution of the decals. There is no minimum order requirements. More information and sample images of the available plates can be found by following the link included below.
