Ankeny Man Injured In Accident That Knocked Out Power To Part Of Carroll Tuesday Morning

An Ankeny man was hospitalized with serious injuries after a car accident that left nearly 294 MidAmerican Energy customers without power for about an hour and a half Tuesday morning. At approximately 10:18 a.m., the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 18000 block of Highway 71 north of Carroll on the report of a single-vehicle accident. Fifty-nine-year-old Max Lundgren was southbound on Highway 71, when for unknown reasons, his 2014 Chevrolet Cruz entered the east ditch, struck an entrance driveway and was sent airborne. The vehicle struck and broke a utility pole guideline, which caused it to flip over, coming to rest in the grassy area of a nearby business. Lundgren was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services. There was an estimated $13,500 in damage to the Lundgren vehicle and another $3,500 in damage to the utility guideline. Lundgren was cited for failure to maintain control. The Carroll Fire Department assisted at the scene.
