Building A Game Plan For Better Health Draws A Good Crowd At SMCH Lunch Connection

Nearly 30 people gathered at the latest Stewart Memorial Community Hospital (SMCH) Lunch Connection to learn how to develop a “Game Plan for Better Health.” Registered Nurse and diabetes educator, Megan Huster, and dietitian, diabetes educator and Tai Chi instructor, Maurine Thieszen, introduced two SMCH programs for health improvement—the National Diabetic Prevention Program (NDPP) and Full Plate Living. The pair provided other strategies for weight-loss success and Thieszen introduced ways that people can “sneak” activity into their daily routines, like using the stairs, making more trips, using a basket instead of a cart at the grocery store or even just walking around after each meal. SMCH hosts the Lunch Connection educational events four times per year, with the next session scheduled for Nov. 2.
