Jefferson To Host Smithsonian Exhibit In August And September

There will only be six communities across the state who will be hosting a special Smithsonian exhibit, “Hometown Teams-How Sports Shapes America,” and Jefferson is one of them. From Aug. 11 through Sept. 23 the Greene County Historical Society and Jefferson Matters: Main Street will be hosting the event at the Historical Society’s building. This was a natural fit for organizers and Main Street Iowa through the Museums on Main Street program as Jefferson, and all of Greene County, have an extensive sports’ history. They are asking for the entire county to be involved in the experience and will get the ball rolling with an informational pep rally on Monday July 24. A short video about the exhibit will be shown at 7 p.m. in the Greene County Historical Society. That will be followed with a brainstorming session for ideas on incorporating local exhibits and activities. More information can be found by following the link included below.
