The Carroll campus of Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) will be holding their 2017 Commencement on Monday, May 8, in the Carroll Senior High School beginning at 6:30 p.m. Provost, Dr. Joel Lundstrom will preside over the ceremony and Jamie Theulen of Scranton, the Student Activities Council (SAC) President will welcome friends and family members. Phi Theta Kappa President, Cara Espinosa of Carroll, will deliver the student address. The 65 DMACC, 10 Buena Vista University and 10 University of Northern Iowa students graduating this spring will then be introduced to special guest speaker, James Bol Chol, founder of a non-profit organization that collects and distributes clothing to refugee camps around the world. Bol Chol fled the Sudan and eventually attended and graduated from Des Moines Area Community College.
