In early April, Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) will bring fiction and poetry writers to six of their campuses in the 15th annual Celebration of Literary Arts Festival. From April 3 through April 5, the authors will interact with the students and read from their works. Two Iowa authors, M. Molly Backes and Molly McDonald, will be reading from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4 at the Carroll DMACC campus. Attendees will hear an excerpt from Backes’ young adult novel, “The Princess of Iowa,” and selected pieces from McDonald who has one book of poetry that has been published and is currently working on her first novel. All Celebration of Literary Arts Festival events are free, and the public is invited to attend.
